Strategy Implemented
CSTP 2.3 Establishing and maintaining learning environments that are physically, intellectually, and emotionally safe.
One amazing strategy that I incorporated while focusing on the CSTP mentioned above is a student survey. This is an idea that my mentor coach presented to me. At first, I felt very vulnerable as I was developing this survey which aimed to gather information on the learning environment in the class, as well as my effectiveness as a teacher. I was worried on how students were going to respond and if I was doing an excellent job in supporting them as I teach the content. After conducting the survey, I received several positive feedback in regard to my teaching and the learning environment. However, I also received ways that I can improve to help students feel supported throughout their learning. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to any teacher. I myself plan to do it both first and second semester of next year. It is a wonderful way to reflect one's practices and improve to better meet the needs of all students. Please look through the survey below for a better understanding of questions asked on the survey.

Student Success
After looking through the survey results, I found out many positive things that I was doing but also ways that I can improve in. One of the common results is more class time to work on activities. As a result, I began to slow down and provide more opportunities for students to receive clarification and better understand the purpose of each activity. Another reoccurring comment to help them feel better supported in the learning environment is by making my agenda more accessible. I have a daily agenda but I usually do not make it available to everyone until the end of the day. Now, it is available at all times, and I make sure to leave enough time at the end of class to go over any assignments that they must complete. In general, these are just a few examples on how student success improved as a result of this strategy. By having students participate in this survey, I was able to learn of new methods that can help all students succeed and feel supported in their learning.
Statement From an Educational Leader
"I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Eric Baeza in the world language department this year. He has brought new ideas and energy to our discussions about teaching methodology and techniques. My classes have benefitted from several activities that he has generously shared. All of these activities focus on the students’ ability to interpret and communicate in the target language.
He is conscious, hardworking and a great collaborator."
