Professional Growth Goal
Initial Goal
After completing the IDP, CSTP Self-Assessment, and discussing with my supervisor, my Professional Growth Goal will be centered on CSTP 1 Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning & CSTP 2 Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning. Specifically, I will be focusing on the utilization of a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of my students. This also aligns with my school's SMART goal listed under Standard 3.1.

Where I Stand
This year I started not only a new position at TPS, but I also began a new program from the ground up. I was very worried with how I was going to tackle this challenge, but I knew that students had to be at the center of my attention. I understood that in order to have a successful year, I needed to establish those positive relationships with my students and create environments where they felt supported throughout their learning. As a result, this program challenged me to learn and incorporate new strategies that I could help me reach that goal. One of those being a student survey that allowed me to examine the perspectives of my students with how they felt the learning was going, and how well I was doing as their teacher. This is something that I never tried before and was very nerve-racking, but I realized that it was necessary to establish and maintain learning environments that are physically, intellectually, and emotionally safe. In the end, I am confident that I have grown in my goal set at the beginning of the year. I understand there is still room for improvement, but I am extremely proud of the progress that I have made in supporting all students and maintaining effective environments for student learning.

Areas of Strength and Improvement (Based on CSTP Self-Assessments)
I am very proud to see the growth from my initial and final CSTP Self-Assessment. Both CSTPs that I focused on for my professional growth goal ended up in my top three strengths which demonstrates to me that there was growth in those areas. Additionally, developing as a professional educator stayed in my top 3 which also shows my commitment to growing as an educator. As I look over the last two CSTPs for my initial and final assessment, I realize the areas that I can focus on for next year's induction. That is CSTP 4 Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students and CSTP 5 Assessing Students for Learning. Even still, I recognize the need for continuous improvement in all areas as one can never stop developing as an educator and I am consistently looking for ways to improve.
Reflection
In conclusion, how I have changed in this first year of induction is by looking at my students through an equitable lens. I realize that in order to engage and support all students, I need to create learning environments that welcome all students. Additionally, I have learned that in the moment adaptations are acceptable and necessary if it will improve the learning environment. I also realize that there is no "one size fits all" way of teaching or learning, so I need to use various strategies that will engage all students. What I am most proud of with this year is how I took the time to get to know my students, and recognize the assets that they each carry. By doing that, I was able to better support my students by maintain learning environments that supports their needs and encourages the use of their funds of knowledge. I am grateful for everything accomplished in this first year and look forward to the next!
